Sure Google's got other things occupying its time in the mobile world these days, with the recent release of the T-Mobile G1 Android phone and Gmail 2.0 for the BlackBerry, but that doesn't mean the company has abandoned its commitment to thei phone.
Google today announced the release of Google Earth for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch. According to the company, the app offers "the same imagery and offers the same navigational capabilities as the desktop client and at launch will feature layers with geo-located Wikipedia articles and Panoramio photos, as well as map labels and borders."
The mobile version of Google Earth also offers the Search Near Me feature, which lets users get results relevant to their location. The Auto Tilt feature, meanwhile, lets users take advantage of the device's accelerometer to change views in the app.
Google Earth for the iPhone can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store. It's available in 18 languages and works with both generations of iPhones.
